Branson is kicking up quite a cloud of dust on the Reader's Digest "We Hear You America" Sweepstakes!
This is a nationwide "race" for towns and cities seeking economic development funds for local revitalization. Also, the Top 100 ranked towns and cities will be visited by the magazine and featured in Spring issues (print and e-versions).
So here's the deal! Tiny Branson is now ranked at #141 in the entire country! Like the little train that could, we started at a ranking of over 2,000, and have watched places like Los Angeles, Sacramento, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, fade away in our rear-view mirror.
If Branson makes it into the Top 100, this will bring promotional attention to all of Las Animas County. When one of us wins, all of us win. (Lamar is closer to the goal than we are -- and heck, if they come to visit Lamar, they can certainly swing by Branson and Trinidad!)
We need the continued support of our friends and neighbors throughout Las Animas County and beyond. Anyone, anywhere, anytime, with an email address, can CHEER for Branson. It's easy:
1. Go to readersdigest.com. Click Sweepstakes at the bottom of the page.
2. Next, click on WE HEAR YOU AMERICA.
3. Type in Branson, CO and then click CHEER.
4. If a first-time CHEERER, you need to register. Unclick the two bottom boxes to opt out of spam mailings. If you have a Facebook, use that option to spread the word.
5. CHEER 10 times on every visit. Add ideas or comments on the Branson page if you wish. Repeat every day until it's over.
