About Me

My photo
Hope
Hello my name is Hope and I was born 11/05/07. I lost all but 12cm of my small intestines due to a midgut volvulus with malrotation. I am my mommy and daddy's miracle baby. I know there are lots of babies out there that have lost large amounts of their intestines and everyday is a struggle for us. We would like to share our story so that maybe if someone is struggling right now with making tough decisions for their child with the same condition our story will help. Hope was born at 36 weeks by an emergency C-section. She went into surgery about 6 hours later and that is when they discovered that 90% of her small intestines had the blood supply cut off and were no longer viable. They left her abdomen open over night to see if the small intestines that what was left was going to survive. Hope was in NICU for a week. She was so tiny and fragile. The doctors told us she would not live longer than two weeks. We were devastated. We brought her home to love her and enjoy her. She has far surpassed what any of the doctors told us. Hope has blessed our lives tremendously. To read from the beginning of my blog http://hopesjourneywithashortgut.blogspot.com/2008/04/10-lbs-2-oz.html
